CRIM is a 30-year-old MC from Detroit, Michigan, originally known as Crimson Alchemist, who released her debut EP E4 in 2018, drawing inspiration from her love of Pokémon, just one month later 4H (For Her) with a Valentine’s Day theme for 2020 until the world as we know it went into lockdown. She’s been releasing singles and producing features since, but as she officially returns, she’s taking the next step, changing her name and launching her third EP, albeit her first in over four years. A work.
“Wrong Turn” showcases the EP’s mixing skills and passion for a lifetime commitment to piano, kick and snare, while “Adversary” is a mix of synths and booming bap that solemnly declares she’s up to no good. Jazar & Semi 6’s “The Whitney” kicks off the second half of “The Whitney,” and before J. Santino’s “The 11th Hour” returns to complete the EP, once you get into the game, you’ll find that everything is different. .
I was lucky enough to meet CRIM a few summers ago when Fatt Father released her fifth album, Soccer Dad, produced by Foul Mouth, and found the way she blended conscious lyricism with hip-hop nerdiness to be very unique. unique. However, at the same time, this is probably my favorite piece of her new EP, and one that anyone who has been sleeping on for over a decade should use to wake themselves up. Instrumentally, you’ll hear traditional bangers and Cream jumping through them, recounting everything she’s been through.
