BG returned to work immediately after serving 12 years in prison. However, it’s clear that not all of the artist’s legal woes are behind him yet. Recently, it was reported that he will now have to submit all lyrics to his probation officer for approval. The proposal was first floated earlier this year. At the time, the government deemed his recent lyrics inconsistent with his recovery goals.
In response, his legal team made it clear they believed it violated his First Amendment rights. “As to the Government’s request that Mr. Dorsey provide to the U.S. Probation Department (and the Government) the lyrics of ‘all or some of the songs that he may compose while on supervised release,’ we respectfully state that this request is overbroad and violates the First Amendment. and due process,” his attorneys wrote in May.
