Cordae is a name that needs no introduction, especially to the current generation of hip-hop leaders.
A new-age rapper capable of commanding attention and opinions, even getting rappers like J Cole and Eminem to respect his artistic vision, Cordae has now enlisted rapper Lil Wayne on his new song “Saturday Mornings.” Talent and legacy.
The song will be released as a music video later Wednesday. If the trailer is any indication, the film appears to be about a young listener’s journey from fan to artist in the hip-hop game. The production is also sample-centric, with soul vocal samples forming the crux of the track in an almost Kanye-esque way.
But this isn’t the first time the two rappers have teamed up. The two had earlier collaborated on the 2021 release “Sinister,” in which the rappers rocked blonde braids and delivered a captivating melody. While the song is a polished showcase of flow, this song appears to be the pair’s exploration of a deeper subject that is deep for many and will be featured on Cordae’s upcoming album, The Crossroads a part of.
With a string of collaborations with Lyrical Lemonade, an endorsement deal with Eminem, and more, Cordae is certainly at an interesting crossroads in her career. The direction he will take the new project remains to be seen.
