Cordae, Anderson .Paak and J. Cole have teamed up for a new song titled “Summer Drop,” which will appear on the former YBN star’s upcoming album, The Crossroads.
Cordae and .Paak have previously discussed a collaborative project together, but for now fans only have the new Cole-produced track.
“Summer Drop” has a laid-back, funky vibe befitting its title, as well as a certain amount of ’90s nostalgia.
The lyrics also feature Cordae’s memories of past summers: “I saved up all summer, that’s how I bought my school uniform/I bought some cougars and some fake chains, that’s fool’s gold.”
.Paak had a similar feeling: “Remember when summer came and we were at uncle’s place/three n-ggas with nothing to do but wrestle or slap box.”

The trio first collaborated on Two Tens last year, with J. Cole returning as producer.
Following the song’s success, Cordae revealed more of his, Anderson .Paak and Cole’s musical output in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
“You know what’s funny? We literally got a mixtape full of me and .Paak joints,” he said. “Yeah, we did get a mixtape full of me and .Paak. Well, we got an EP full of me, .Paak and Cole’s beats.
“[.Paak] Really like my true friend, like my brother. Other artists will be like, “Oh, that’s my brother,” or, “Oh, that’s my man.” Saying that shit just to sound cool.
He continued, “To be honest, I don’t really have a lot of friends. He’s one of my real friends in real life. You know what I’m saying? So I say that to say, that’s where it comes from, Man. Just because we were just kicking it, we were just kicking it and recording it.
“It won’t be like, ‘Yo, let’s put this out next week.'” It’ll be like, “Yo, this song’s been a couple years.” You know what I’m saying? So I always, I’m like a man, I’m going to stick with it. When the time comes, it feels right, it feels right. Do you know?
While it’s unclear if there will be a collaboration between the trio, Cordae recently shared a trailer for the film on social media, confirming that Crossroads is coming.
The album is also expected to include the Lil Wayne-assisted “Saturday Mornings,” while collaborations with Hit-Boy, Pharrell and G Herbo are also rumored to be on the cards.
