Regarding their latest album, Let God Em Out, Clipse is almost perfectly launched. Even Kendrick’s poems leaked ahead of time, allowing fans to overcome the delusions and hype of “Kendrick’s poems” and instead focus on the album as a whole. It can be argued that people are indeed narratives of the album in conversation now, rather than living in the shadow of Kendrick’s poems (which is obviously the main real estate for this year’s rappers).
This also seems to be the point of view of Clipse doing videos for “chain and whip”: the focus, not just Kendrick’s existence, in the case of concepts, interpretations, ambiguity, ambiguity and for hip-hop to be regarded as advanced art. These frames are intentional and showcase the power of a powerful storyboard, which can be seen from the way each frame performs the plot.
In editing, the video is actually twisted in some places, which complements the silence and sinister viciousness of the short film. Commenting on Black experiences and incarceration in the United States and juxtaposing with monochrome shots of babies (who are usually raping due to AI’s deformation) allows viewers to face strange feelings.
