Clip art returns with revenge and the message about letting God, their first album released in 16 years (July 11) and is filled with heavyweight features and keen verses targeting old allies and new goals.
The Sibling Duo (Pusha t and Malice) and Malice delivered 13 tight tracks, clocking in less than 40 minutes, marking their first full-length project since 2009 until the coffin fell.
The album was produced entirely by Pharrell Williams, marking a transformation in their early work with Neptunes, as Pharrell flew on the board for the first time in clip-and-film history.
The album is never quiet.
“Chapters and Whip” featuring Kendrick Lamar has caused controversy online. According to Pusha, the content of the track led to a standoff between Def Jam/Universal, prompting the clip-on patch to be out of the tag and sign a distribution agreement with ROC Nation.
The theme of the album is digging deeper – grief, redemption and spiritual estimates are front and center.
The guest appearance is like a hip-hop wishlist: Taylor, creator, John Legend, Nass, stovetop Cooks, Abu Lewa, dreams and the collective fire of the gospel are all contributing.
Promotions include a U.S. tour from August to September, a performance by ColorsXstudios, and a high-profile listening session at Louis Vuitton’s Paris headquarters. Despite multiple leaks before release, the album still caused a big buzz.
Social media was full of reactions, especially when Malice came back.
One user posted: “Everyone is talking about Pusha because there was drama during the launch, but Malice kept quiet and literally left multiple songs.”
Another added: “There should be more mention of malice in your top rapper call.”
The project is available on all platforms and is available in limited edition vinyls available through select channels.
