The defendant suspected of murdering Chinx, also known as Chinx Drugz, was sentenced to 23 years in prison in Queens District Court on Monday.
Quincy Homere has pleaded guilty to the 2015 murder of the rapper, whose real name was Lionel Pickens Jr. ” or “Qwality”) became jealous of Chinx and eventually took his own life. Fox 5.
Chinx’s widow, Janelli Caceres, has worked with NYPD detectives for years to help them find the suspect. She said she was grateful to the New York Police Department, the Queens District Attorney and friends and fans for preserving his memory and his musical legacy.
“It was very emotional. I was sitting there, staring at him, crying the whole time because you have so many different thoughts and words going through your head and you know you have to stay calm,” she told Fox 5 New York’s Lisa Evers in January.
Chinx and his wife, Janelli Caceres-Pickens, raise two girls and a boy. In May 2015, the rapper was murdered behind the wheel of a limousine in Queens after performing at a Brooklyn nightclub.
