After Childish Gambino’s last timestamp-based project 3.15.20 was mysteriously canceled, the rapper has now released an improved version of it – Atavista.
Previously on Gilga Radio, Donald Glover talked about Childish Gambino’s last two albums (and more cool stuff). The rapper revealed how the “3.15.20” project was carried out amid the uncertainty brought about by the pandemic, and how difficult it was from a technical perspective. Well, he’s now changed all that, bringing this album to its true potential.
ATAVISTA is live.
This album is the finished version of the album “3.15.20” that I released four years ago. A special vinyl version of each song’s visuals will be released soon.
The new Childish Gambino album will be released in the summer.

The album moves away from timestamp-based nomenclature and proudly shares the same minimalist aesthetic as far as the artwork is concerned. However, these tracks contain all the details that were lacking – named with subtle intention and a commitment to excellence. Listen to the 11-track album here!
Atavista is Gambino’s penultimate project, preceding and marking Gambino’s final album, which the rapper talked about on Gilga Radio a few weeks ago. In a sense, Atavista appears to be laying the groundwork for a sound- and format-driven transition into the final project, which will serve as the complete soundtrack for the film Bandō Stone and the New World.
Gambino fans will also want to know that a Childish Gambino tour is also in the works – which his colleagues claim will put the recent Drake tour to shame. In a recent post, the rapper’s manager asked fans via X for their input on which continents to take the show to. Gambino himself has also announced a “new world tour”, using a dedicated tour website to find fan email IDs for direct communication and soliciting suggestions for potential performance venues. But for now, the site appears to have updated the position roster on the official website (complete? Who knows!); check it out for yourself here!
I’m just saying.. this tour Gambino is planning will make the last Drake tour look like child’s play.
