St. Paul natives in Minnesota discussed the “most well-known unknown” platform and made beats for Cyphers in the 2025 XXL freshman class.

“I feel like XXL freshman is pushing for envelopes, and for the producer community, for us, to do these things, it also provides us with prospects. For those behind the scenes who no one knows, “the most famous unknown.” People don’t even know who I am. And you have to actually see my record and you can understand it.
I’ve always wanted to be [XXL Freshman]. It has been something I always like since the beginning. This is just something I thought I would do one day, you know? Just something on my repository list.
As a platform for these artists, [XXL Freshman] Really show them a world that they may not know. XXL Globally, some of these artists may not even touch parts of the world, or in other continents or other areas or other aspects. So it’s like a real, huge deal for these rappers.
Ian, his feathers wrinkled, you know, because like white rappers, people stigmatize white rappers, we do protect our culture. This is sacred, do you know what I’m talking about? So I understand how everyone else feels watching outside. But, from what I saw, he knew his stuff. He wasn’t trying to adapt to anyone, nor was he trying to do that, what we do. He raps, he is inspired by rappers from our culture, and you have to respect it. He is very difficult.
Lazer Dim 700 is one of the most unique, fun kids, and the most fun
It sounds like it’s from Atlanta. He is paint. At first, I didn’t understand the twisted 808, stream, do you know? He is one of them, just an unorthodox artist.
Rugrat in 1900, he comes from background. He has seen some things. You can say he is a real kid. He has a cool spirit. He is like your white boy, growing up on the hood with you. His contribution to rap culture is exciting because he represents his own representation.
Loe Shimmy, that’s someone I know. I have to witness his appearance and still witness his coming. He is one of the most unique sounds and has one of the craziest sounds. And he went well with it. He can sing, very melodious and harmonious.
Nino pay is definitely a fire. I just started studying his music. I saw him from Baltimore. It was exciting to see their music scene finally appear there.
Babychiefdoit, he’s like a bad, cool little brother, man. My son put me on him. He was very excited about his work. It’s still crazy for me, but how he raps, like somehow, he’s like a more Eminem-like version of the hood. He is animated, you know? That’s what I love to see from artists, especially from Chicago, and introduces different lights on the city. Not always serious.
The gel is hard. You wouldn’t think the boy playing ball would be on it, but Gelo got it, man. I was surprised. “I turned around in that corner…” No one hates this. You will never hate good music. It was exciting to see him as part of this lineup. I want to see more from him, too.
Samara Cyn, Oh my god, I can’t even describe her style because she’s unique about it.
She has a new soul that can jump on your ass quickly. I just like her style. She stayed here for a long time. She can rap and sing and has vision.
Eem Triplin, another unique child, because his voice is unique. It’s paint. The essence of his music. My daughter, she listens to Eem Triplin. So I respect it, especially his message.
Ray Vaughn, a fire from Long Beach, California. He is a very competitive artist. See where he comes from him and where he comes from ofta
West Coast. The West has been waiting for someone to get there, do more and put it at the forefront. He is one of the artists who do this and he does a great job.
YTB Fatt, also one of the most unique artists, has his process in Memphis. I just like his style. He is paint. He spoke very quickly like that uncle. He just did it cool. I just like his rap.
Ebk Jaaybo, one of my favorite rappers, man. Just like mob music, but now in his own form and fashion, how is his identity. He’s like a rap dig. Of course, the money is on him. Release him by the way.
The beat process of the password reminds me even more of the current state of our music and is trying to put my ears there to see if people can accompany the beat. And, you have to challenge artists, too, just like you are doing XXL freshman. Like almost hand-picked. You have to be the best.
