Cardi B was temporarily speechless in the Los Angeles court on Tuesday (August 26), when her changing hairstyle and extra-long nails became the unexpected focus of her testimony for civil assault trial.
The rapper appeared in long blonde numbers on Tuesday after he arrived at court with a stylish black elf wig on Monday, prompting plaintiff’s lawyers to be confused during cross-examination.
“During the event date, do you have brunette, blonde or different hair?” the attorney asked.
Cardi said she doesn’t remember, but confirmed she was wearing a hoodie.
The lawyer further pressed, pointing out the contrast between her two court appearances.
“You had black hair yesterday, short hair.” “Today I had blonde hair.
Cardi laughed before answering “They are wigs.”
“Okay. Sorry, I don’t know. It was a good wig then,” the lawyer replied.
The inquiry then turned to Cardi’s nails and the lawyer asked her to show them to the court.
“How long does these nails last?” he asked, then digging into their shape and style. Cardi’s nail habits and maintenance procedures were broken down, and responded.
The line of questioning seems to suggest that Cardi’s acrylic nails may have played a role in the so-called 2018 Beverly Hills OB-GYN office, with former security guard Emani Ellis claiming he was under attack.
Ellis accused Cardi B of scratching her cheek with his nails, spitting her cheeks, racially humiliating her body, stabbing a finger, and ordering another guard to restrain her. She said the incident caused her emotional distress, including PTSD, anxiety, depression and insomnia.
Cardi denied all claims about physical violence and insisted that Ellis was an aggressor and tried to film without consent during a private medical visit.
In the stands, Cardi admitted to yelling at Ellis, but firmly stated that it was a “verbal dispute.”
The trial will be held in the Los Angeles Superior Court this week.
