Cardi B took to Twitter Spaces to respond to accusations from a former ghostwriter and producer that she wasted money while ignoring past collaborators.
Earlier this week, the Bronx-born rapper who has become one of the leaders in hip-hop revealed that she spends as much as $3 million a month.
triggered a reply from the producer Swift broadcastwho claims he collaborated with the rapper, ghostwriting and producing her songs — but didn’t make any money
The accusations date back to early mixtapes Cardi made under KSR, the management company she left years ago.
She called the allegations misleading in her unrestricted response on December 5, 2024.
“I haven’t even worked a full year,” Cardi said in a fiery speech filmed on December 5, 2024. [expletive] Did you see on the Internet that I have been working for a whole year? Did you watch my performance?
Cardi detailed her expensive legal battle to quit her deal with KSR, revealing the lawsuit cost nearly $1 million.
“It actually cost me $1 million to get out of my contract with my old label, KSR, which is equivalent to nearly $1 million in litigation,” she said. “I ended up giving this guy $11 million so he wouldn’t be on my second, third and fourth album.”
Now, the rapper says the producer’s financial woes are not her responsibility.
The rapper criticized the producer for seeking financial support years after they stopped working together, noting that his issues stemmed from his own contract with KSR.
“I don’t owe you [expletive]” she said emphatically. “You want me to use one of your beats? I don’t like them. I’m sorry.
However, Swift took to his social media account to share a message he sent to Cardi B.
“When I see something like this… all I remember is you saying ‘Don’t worry, I got you,'” the producer wrote to the rapper in a DM.
He also posted on his social media:
“To all my young producers/songwriters out there, make sure you get your paperwork together before working with any artist because something like this might happen and you’ll be the one to end up with it. This industry is full of fakes and in the end no one can catch you but you, my advice to you! Thankfully I’m a smart young man and I did my research and got what I did, but I’m owed much more than I was given…”
However, this only sparked more outrage from Cardi B, who categorically dismissed the claims.
“The only people I help are my family and friends — my everyday friends,” she said. “They don’t ask me for anything unless they really need it.”
As the film comes to a close, Cardi leaves no doubt where she stands, declaring that she’s on her best behavior.
“I’ve been trying to help this [expletive] Over the years. Find a lawyer. It’s not my problem,” she said. “Now you are my enemy.”
