Cardi B is calling for peace as she seeks to repair her relationship with rapper Offset for the sake of her children.
In the weeks leading up to this, the two had exchanged pointed remarks on social media.
The Grammy Award-winning artist addressed the situation during a conversation on X Spaces, emphasizing that her first goal is to have a conflict-free co-parenting relationship.
“I don’t want to get into an argument with the people I love,” Cardi said during the discussion. “With all the divorce stuff that’s going on, I want peace, I want friendship. I just want a healthy co-parenting relationship.
Cardi filed for divorce from Offset in July, the second time since their marriage in 2017.
Despite accusations of dealing, including Offset suggesting Cardi might have been unfaithful during her pregnancy, the rapper is now focused on maintaining a civil relationship for the well-being of her child.
The couple has three children together: Kulture, 6, Wave, 3, and their youngest daughter, who was born in September.
During the discussion, Cady opened up about her desire to emulate the friendly atmosphere that developed after her parents separated.
“I wanted to be like my mom and dad,” Cardi explained, noting that while the two no longer interact as a couple, they have successfully prioritized her and her sister’s needs. “They don’t attack each other, they’re just there for me and my sister.”
Cardi also reflected on being single at 31 years old.
While she admits she enjoys her independence, she also recognizes the need for balance.
“I had a lot of fun,” she said. “But I felt like I was single and happy and I had to stop it because I didn’t want it to get in the way of my work.”
Cardi stressed that her career remains a priority and she worries that distractions will prevent her from staying focused.
“I’m paranoid about spending time with other people,” she added.
