Busta Rhymes’s son Trillian just shared his involvement in the second season of the MTV documentary series, dedicated to celebrating the achievements of musicians and family as an exciting journey.
In a recent appearance on MTV’s Just Live Live, Trillian spoke frankly about his experience in filming in MTV’s Family Legacy Season 2 to celebrate his father’s longevity with his father’s collaborator Wyclef Jean.
For Trillian, it wasn’t just a project, it was a transformative experience.
“That’s probably the best feeling ever,” Trillian said of part of the series. “I was able to see certain edits that my dad had never seen before, you know that actually saw what it took for my dad and how my dad really grew up as Busta Rhymes and really created the character of Busta Rhymes.”
Talking about his growing up to know that Busta Rhymes is just in “Dad” Trillian describes how powerful it is to witness the invisible shots and behind-the-scenes moments, especially from the early milestones of his father’s career.
“I know he’s dad, so to see all this stuff, actually seeing all the unreleased clips and behind the scenes of the ‘scenes’ and something like that… It’s amazing, it actually actually puts me under me.” “It’s like Cole’s coming, it’s like a complete circle for me. I live through him as he passes through my life.”
Most importantly, though, the filming moment stood out for Trillian for the rest of the moment, revealing watching the iconic “Scene” music video, a key release to the rise of Busta Rhymes, which made him cry.
“When I’ve watched the ‘scene’ video, I’ll definitely say it actually brought tears to my tears,” he admitted. “Because it was a ‘rah rah like a dungeon dragon’ video. That song really brought to my dad and actually started to really help bring my dad into what it is today 35 years later.”
Before the era of social media and digital shortcuts, he continued to reflect on the very different eras in which his father appeared.
“At that time… they didn’t have social media, they didn’t have all the technology we have now, so he really had to be outside, really had to be charismatic, to be that artist and step into this light,” he said. “So it’s actually like a little excited to see this for me, but it’s good.”
