Bryson Tiller reveals why he never signed with Drake’s record label Ovo Sound.
Talk about New Rory and Mar The podcast, R&B star details his desire to sign Drake, but chooses to go in a different direction.
He explained: “I’m blunt. Honest. The only reason I don’t have an autograph. [to OVO] Just because my brother didn’t hit me once. That was on my tag, like they were hunting me, they were flying me, they were trying to keep me away from Drake. ”
Tiller added: “I was like, yo, Owo is really in my blood.” I really studied it [Drake’s] Table of contents. I really think there are a few people who are huge strands of musical DNA and Drake is one of them. ”
He went on to reveal his reaction to signing with the RCA: “I got there and was like, ‘Yes, we signed with the RCA here.” I was angry about it. ”
Tiller also revealed that he sent a message to Drake before making the final decision: “He never looked back. I know he was just busy, super busy guy. I’m not saying he didn’t want me to sign or anything, but then, I had a kid and I got home, like I got home, would he do it? Will he do it? So I had to choose the most certain shot.”
Tiller previously said about the deal in 2015: “It’s hard for me. Even though the whole Timbo thing makes me happy, ‘I’m buzzing here, I’m going to do it, ‘A lot of the time, I’m really discouraged, like I’m like, man, ‘man,’ it’s not wanting to be a negative thing. I’m going to keep going, and that’s what I want.
“I think that’s a plan or God’s plan, but it’s all different. It’s one of the biggest decisions I have to make in my life. I’m very naive when making business decisions. I’ve signed two separate tags before and they haven’t signed them.
