Brandy is set to return to the big screen in A24’s upcoming horror film The Lobby , and the first official trailer has been released.
The film, adapted from Susan Hill’s short story of the same name, “tells the story of a newly pregnant young couple who are forced to take in their ailing, estranged stepmother.” It will be the directorial debut of Sam and Max Eggers.
In addition to Brandi, Katherine Hunt, Neil Hef and Andrew Burnap will also star in the film, which will be released on September 6.
“The house is mine,” A24 wrote in the trailer’s title — a playful reference to Brandy and Monica’s 1998 hit. “@Brandy slips into fear again, confronting Kathryn Hunter, the most evil mother-in-law ever, in the front room. Watch in the crowd on September 6th.
After announcing the film’s release in August 2022, Brandi said on Instagram: “It’s official! The Eggers front office at @a24 can’t wait for you to see this.
“OMG YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I have trusted you with my life. Thank you for giving me this amazing opportunity to work with this incredible cast, crew and a studio that everyone wants to work with and of course Having my Eggers family to work with.
Speaking of “The Boy Is Mine,” Brandi and Monica recently reunited to support Ariana Grande on their blockbuster rendition of their two-decade-old collaboration.
Earlier this month, Grande dropped the music video for “The Boy Is Mine” from her Eternal Sunshine album, which was released earlier this year. The song is based on the veteran singer’s 1998 hit of the same name, which earned them a Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group.
The visual for the new show begins with the two icons taking on the roles of news anchors, with shaggy-haired Mayor Max Starling, played by Penn Badgley, delivering a speech.
Brandy’s brother Ray J also recently discussed the possibility of the two singers touring, but Monica quickly ended the conversation, pointing out that there is no contract, so nothing should be discussed publicly.
