BossMan Dlow recently opened up about his journey to signing with Alamo Records, revealing the key role Rod Wave played in influencing his decision.
In a recent interview with “The Breakfast Club,” the “SportsCenter” hitmaker promoted his new album “Dlow Curry” and talked about his dream of playing basketball, his recent feud with DJ Vlad, and his patented Flow. One of the most interesting tidbits he shared was that he almost signed with Gucci Mane before ultimately settling on Alamo Records.
“Gucci tried to sign me, and it was like a little misunderstanding,” Deloitte explains.
He attributed the missed opportunity to communication issues, particularly involving the lawyers handling the deal. He added, “I guess I didn’t really communicate with him.”

BossMan Dlow also revealed that he is in talks with Think It’s A Game, the brand behind YFN Lucci.
“They tried to sign me, but you know, that didn’t work out,” he said. Although the details of the deal that failed to materialize are unclear, DeLo found himself signing a deal with Alamo Records shortly after negotiations fell through. When asked why he chose the Alamo, DeLo pointed to Rod Wave’s success as a big factor.
“At the time, I looked up to Rod Weaver because he was right there,” DeLaw said. “I’m saying, ‘Well, he’s doing a great job, he’s not complaining.'”
The timing of BossMan Dlow’s move to Alamo is also particularly exciting, after Rod Wave’s latest album, “Last Lap,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after selling approximately 137,000 copies in its first week. He went on to stress that Alamo’s approach was consistent with what he was looking for in a brand.
“They’re also right,” he added.
All things considered, Dlow may have dodged a bullet considering Gucci recently cleared out his 1017 Records artist roster. Despite this, Dello admitted he was at a different stage in his life during these talks as he reflected on the missed opportunity with Gucci Mane.
“At that time, man, I was so deep in the streets, like money didn’t matter,” he shared. “I know I’m with Gucci…I know I’m going to break down, but it’s just not the right conversation.”
