He engages with students, provides heartfelt advice, and embraces his role with enthusiasm.
In his Instagram caption, Shmurda expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledged the irony of the moment. “Principal Shmurda’s day—ha! The crazy thing is I never graduated from junior high,” he wrote. “So it was an honor. Thank you so much to Principal Whitaker for letting me lead East Orange High School for this day. “I was Bobby Schmurda, and I got locked up,” he recalled. He has spoken openly about his troubled teenage years, revealing that his first brush with the law came at the age of 12. “My friends were four or five years older than me. My mother would cry all day.” Shmurda also recalled his turbulent time in prison. “In the first few years, I was crazy – gang rapes, smoking, fighting, Doing stupid things,” he admits.
“I have to stop letting others define my behavior,” he told the students. “Every time I try to achieve something, some unfortunate person pushes me off track, and I end up in jail. You can’t thrive like that.
