It’s been a while since fans heard new music from Bobby Schmurda. However, the Brooklyn rapper claims DSP won’t put him on the playlist because he doesn’t paint his nails.
Bobby Shmurda claims DSP blocked him for not wearing nail polish
Bobby Shmurda took to his Instagram account on Saturday (June 1) to share a message to fans who have been bothered by his decision to drop new music. In his post, which can be viewed below, Bobby claims that digital streaming platforms and music blogs won’t include him in playlists because he doesn’t paint his nails.
“Stop asking me to give up music, American DSP and the music blogs they own won’t allow the real Boardman to appear on playlists because I can’t paint my fingers,” he wrote. “So it’s pointless…unless the people who own, operate and manage these platforms take action [lion emoji]”.
Although the “Shmoney” rapper didn’t provide any substantial evidence to back up his claims, there are rappers who have expressed concerns about artists who paint their nails.

Fat Joe believes rappers paint their nails to get attention
In April, during an Instagram Live session, Fat Joe told his viewers that he believed male rappers who wear nail polish (and rock wallets) do so because it will make them famous and potentially increase their stream numbers.
“It feels like…a new trend, a new trend, a new style,” Joey Clark says in the video below. “Paint your nails, use a bag, wear a bag.”
While the sight of a rapper wearing nail polish may shock some people, it’s not a requirement for success in the rap game.
Lil Yachty, founder of nail polish brand Crete, has been ridiculed by fans and peers for years for his use of nail art. Atlanta Rhymes sees it as a form of expression and has nothing to do with being feminine.
Artists Tyler, The Creator, Machine Gun Kelly, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Trippie Redd and more are all into nail painting and adding it to their own style. It’s true that manicures aren’t for everyone.
Finally, Bobby Shmurda doesn’t have to resort to nail paint to get his music on his playlist.
