Here we team up with Detroit, MI emcee Blaze Ya Dead Homie and Louisville, KY emcee Bukshot for a brand new EP. One of them rose to prominence in the underground music scene, signing to Insane Clown Posse’s own label, which ran Psychopathic Records on the streets, and released their self-titled debut EP and full-length debut album Less G n da Hood in 2000 , the other is famous for his music creation of Mobstyle. The two have collaborated several times in the past and have further collaborated through Blockwork Morgue.
Following the “Morgue Night” intro, the first track, “Blockwork,” produced by Mike Summers (aka “Seven”), begins with a wacky trap heater explaining how shit works around the block, while Jamie Madrox’s “Panic” delves further down the hardcore rabbit hole to get everyone going into panic mode against them. “Do It,” a fusion of pop and rap-rock, tells the story of how they lost weight on the streets, while the terrifying “War Story” targets those who want to argue with them.
Monoxy’s remix of “JAFUD (Just Another Fucked Up Day)” shows off some rap-rock influences, the EP’s official closer talks about just another boring day, and Drive-By’s “Take an L” remix “Helter Skelter: The Accomplices II” features a new verse from Boondox that can be used alongside original highlights from previously mentioned albums in Buk’s discography.
Buk has been teasing the EP for months now, and I’m glad he finally decided to put it out after opening for the release party for the House of Krazees reunion LP at The Shelter in the basement of St. Andrew’s Hall. . Seven’s production is not to be missed, kicking off Devil’s Night 2024 as the two MCs elevate their chemistry by colliding two unique worlds in the evil underground scene.
Score: 8/10
