Big Sean just released his new album Better Me Than You.
The album received a positive response from fans, but it did not perform as well commercially as some of his previous projects. In a new interview with DeepCut and VicBlends, Sean talks about why this album is his favorite album he’s ever made.
He also discussed addiction to Adderall, which patients often take to treat ADHD. He confessed that he had reached a stage where he couldn’t function without it.
“I remember walking into a studio and feeling like I couldn’t do anything without it. That’s when I knew there was something wrong with me, that’s when I knew there was something wrong with me. I was like, OK, I need to stop right now. This thing. I suddenly stopped it…I had to withdraw from everything and I had to start connecting with myself again mentally because I was completely out of it. Really getting back into meditation and being surrounded by mentors helped me connect more with myself,” Sean said.
In the conversation that follows, the rapper talks about growing up in Detroit, when he first met Kanye, his past struggles with burnout, developing healthier habits, his love for his mom, and writing First book, new album, and some words of wisdom.
