Big Sean feels incredible after the release of his fourth song with Eminem, his journey from fan to collaborator coming full circle.
On Tuesday (July 2), Sean looked back at Em’s 1999 album The Slim Shady LP as the first album he ever bought on The It’s Slim Shady’s farewell to himself.
“I won’t tell you, but the Slim Shady LP was the first CD I bought with my own money at Costco,” Sean wrote. “Me n Em has about 4 songs now (DVE, No Favors, Detroit 2 cypher) but adding Death Of Slim Shady completes it. I don’t know when I bought it, it was one of the next ones out of town …”
He added: “Let alone knowing Em. Remind yourself how unrealistic reality is.

Eminem’s twelfth studio album is less than two weeks away from being released.
The rap veteran released his second single “Tobey” on Tuesday (June 2), teaming up with Detroit MCs Big Sean and BabyTron. The 51-year-old has joined the never-ending debate about the greatest rapper of all time, asserting his dominance in the culture while addressing those who question it.
“Can’t feel like your top five favorite rappers/So I know they’ll be mad at me/But it’s a mystery to me/The rappers I’ve torn apart are probably/On the list better than me/ However, I’m on your list, even though it’s five (eh), it’s still good/But just know the heart, to me, it’s so hilarious,” he spits on the explosive track.
Em turned his attention to Melle Mel’s recent criticism of his place in hip-hop, adding: “When I get laughed at by a pioneer/Who’s one of the reasons I’m here/They tell me I should Let that shit go and slide/”Melle Mel doesn’t deserve any reply”/”That man is a legend,” bitch, me too.
The music video for the new collaboration, directed by Cole Bennett, will drop on Friday (July 5).
“The Death of Slim Shady” (Coupe De Grâce) is scheduled to be released on July 12.
Eminem kicked off the rollout last month by posting the obituary of his fictional alter ego Slim Shady. The article, published in the Detroit Free Press in mid-May, focused on the upcoming record.
