Big Sean has revealed why he hasn’t proposed to long-term girlfriend Jhené Aiko even though they have a child together.
In a wide-ranging interview with Charlamagne Tha God, the Detroit rapper candidly discussed his nearly decade-long relationship with the R&B singer.
When asked about the possibility of marrying his beloved son, Sean said: “There’s no secret industry marriage. It’s a little personal, but let’s be honest, like anyone who’s dealt with love, we’ve had our ups and downs. .I think it’s still looking for the correct navigation.
The former GOOD Music MC later explained that he didn’t want to rush into marriage: “To me, marriage symbolizes the best relationships. People will say, ‘When are you getting married?’ ” I feel like building a relationship is primary and marriage is a by-product.
“A lot of people think, ‘Oh, you have to get married.'” But to me, that’s almost a fear-based way of thinking, because people are going to get divorced. The divorce rate is too high.
Sean insists he’s not ruling out the possibility of marrying his Twenty88 collaborator, but “overall, there’s still a lot of work to be done.”
“She and I have to be on the same page,” he added. “It’s not that we’re not. I can only speak for myself and say that more needs to be done so that we can move forward. Because we’re very focused on family, career and everything, but I feel like that’s not the main focus.
Big Sean and Jhené Aiko have a one-year-old son named Noah, who was born in November 2022 after the singer suffered a miscarriage.
The couple began dating in 2016, shortly after Sean’s relationship with pop star Ariana Grande ended.

Aiko also has another child with R&B singer O’Ryan, who is Omarion’s younger brother.
Sean’s comments come shortly after a marriage-related moment the couple had at a concert in Los Angeles went viral.
The Detroit native performed lyrics from their 2013 collaboration “Beware,” singing, “Keeping my phone on silent since you got the ringtone,” to which Aiko replied, “What ringtone?” while causing People noticed that she didn’t have a wedding ring.
