Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles debunks post she allegedly criticized Dolly Parton for her reaction to Bey being snubbed from 2024 Country Music Awards .
As previously reported, Bey didn’t receive any nominations at this year’s CMAs, despite her country album “Cowboy Carter” topping the charts.
While her father blamed it on her race, Dolly offered her own perspective in a conversation with Variety published on Tuesday (September 17).
“There are so many great country artists, and I think probably in the country music space, they probably think, well, we can’t really ignore some people who have been doing this their whole lives,” Parton said. “But I didn’t even realize [Beyoncé wasn’t nominated] Until someone asked me this question. But it’s a great album. She can be very, very proud and I think everyone in country music welcomes her and thinks that’s great.
The legendary country star continued, “So I don’t think it’s a question of being shut out, like doing it on purpose. I think it’s more of the country charts and what country artists have been doing, and Not just a professional album.
Bay covered Parton’s hit “Jolene” on “Cowboy Carter,” and Dolly later expressed her willingness to perform a duet on the song.
A screenshot of one of Ms. Tina’s comments, in which she allegedly responded to Dolly’s comment, quickly went viral.
“Oh Ms. Dolly we love you but Bey has been working her butt off her whole life since she was 9 years old!” the post read. “She also has country roots. She mastered her craft and broke records in every genre. So to say she didn’t ‘spend her life’ in country music negates all the hard work she put in.
It continued: “Bey doesn’t need to stay in an alley to earn respect – her talent and work ethic speak for themselves! She’s always working hard and no one should be asked to ‘spend their whole life’ in one place to earn it Approved! #beencountry.
However, when it was shared by Neighbor Talk, Ms Tina confirmed: “It’s fake and not mine!”
Mathew Knowles spoke to TMZ after the CMA nominees were announced earlier this month, but Beyoncé was nowhere to be seen.
Knowles said he wasn’t surprised by the snub, noting that Bey didn’t receive a warm reception when she performed with the Dixie Chicks at the 2016 CMAs, and she has yet to receive a reception for it Apologize.
“[The voters are] Showing that it still comes down to white people and black people,” he told the outlet. “There are more white people in America who unfortunately don’t vote based on ability and achievement, and sometimes it’s still a white and black issue.”
