The cause of death of Houston rapper and producer BeatKing has reportedly been announced.
What was the cause of BeatKing’s death?
According to a report published by TMZ on Friday (August 16), BeatKing was pronounced dead at a Houston hospital after collapsing during his Urban One/Radio One radio show on Thursday (August 15).
Sources told the celebrity gossip site that he died after being treated for a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot that blocks the flow of blood to the lungs. The Texas artist’s two daughters were by his side when he died.
XXL has reached out to BeatKing’s team and the medical examiner at the Harris County Forensic Science Institute to confirm the cause of his death.

BeatKing dies at 39
News of BeatKing’s death first broke on Thursday night, when his manager, Tasha Felder, confirmed the 39-year-old rapper and producer’s death via Instagram.
“Today, August 15, 2024, we lost @clubgodzilla,” Felder wrote in a heartfelt statement below. “BeatKing has been part of the club’s finest for over a decade. He produced and collaborated with many artists and his sound will live on forever. He loved his girls @clubgodparenting, his music and his fans. We Will love him forever.
BeatKing has been a well-known staple on the Houston club scene for the past decade, best known for songs including 2020’s “Thick” with DJ Chose and “Then Leave” with Queendom Come, released the same year. Following his death, rappers such as Bun B, 2 Chainz and Juicy J paid tribute to him.
