The estate of late soul legend Barry White is indirectly involved in the war between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
White’s surviving family launches a legal battle against Rodney-O and Joe Cooley over Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar’s hit single “Like That.”
The Barry White Family Trust, represented by Barry White’s widow, Glodine B. White, and Jack W. Perry, allege that “Like That” illegally samples White’s iconic 1973 song “I’m Gonna Love You More” Just a little, baby.” Number
The lawsuit claims the bass line in “Like That” originated directly from White’s original composition. Number
“Like That” samples Rodney-O and Joe Cooley’s 1986 song “Everternity Bass,” which they claim also infringes on White’s copyright. Number
Interestingly, Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar have not been named as defendants in the lawsuit—at least not yet. Number
