Rapper Ay Huncho earlier on Sunday rapper Ay Huncho avoided harm by rapping his residence in western Western Sydney, which police say is a dangerous escalation associated with ongoing gang competition.
After 1 a.m., the gunman opened fire on a house on Merrylands Harris Street, a property where hip-hop artists once lived. At home, there are two women aged 22 and 40 and a boy aged 15.
These three escaped injuries.
Police described the shooting as reckless and intentional.
“It’s dangerous behavior, it’s dangerous behavior, putting the community in danger, it’s an act that we won’t tolerate,” inspector Ricki Lindner said in a news conference.
Investigators confirmed that the home formerly belonged to Ay Huncho, who was released on bail last month despite opposition to police. Authorities say the rapper has ties to the Alamidin Crime Network, which is linked to several violence in Western Sydney.
The NSW Police Department conducted a rigorous review of the Alamidin Group. In March, officers carried out a massive raid claiming they removed most of the gang’s infrastructure.
Despite these efforts, Sunday’s shootings show that the violence is far from over.
Falcon, a NSW police task force, is currently investigating a surge in public shootings and stabbings.
According to police, this is not the first time Ay Huncho or his circle. In June, a 15- and 22-year-old allegedly attacked the home of the Guildford rapper’s bodyguard.
The suspect reportedly stabbed the bodyguard’s father at the time of the incident.
Authorities are now working to determine whether Sunday’s gunfire is part of a wider pattern of retaliation and internal disputes in the Alamidin network.
Ay Huncho repeatedly denied any misconduct and he was still released on bail as his legal case continued.
