Antonio Brown made a cruel joke about the assassination of Charlie Kirk during a live football game with Tekashi 6ix9ine and YouTuber Adin Ross. There was strong opposition from wing conservatives.
While running outside 6ix9ine’s Florida home, Antonio Brown exclaimed, “Nobody’s going to Charlie Kirk me, right,” referring to the conservative commentator who was shot during a debate on Utah Valley University’s campus.
The comments went down poorly, especially given the political fallout following Kirk’s death. The livestream took place amid heightened security following a break-in at 6ix9ine’s home, with both men taking polygraph tests.
“Obviously these people don’t believe their words will be reciprocated,” one user said. Another fumed: “Charlie Kirk is a better man than the asshole he is. His heart is black. It’s unreal how mean people can be these days.”
When asked if he had any regrets about his infamous shirtless exit from MetLife Stadium in 2022, Brown didn’t answer. However, he answered when it came to expressing his affection for former Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Ben Roethlisberger.
Brown’s legal troubles began a few months ago in May when he allegedly shot Zulkanan Kwame Nantambu during a boxing match hosted by Ross in Miami.
Nantambu gained notoriety for waving a Palestinian flag during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show and was later arrested in June for resisting police and disrupting a public event.
Video of the Miami incident appears to show Brown getting into a violent confrontation in the parking lot before gunfire dispersed the crowd.
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Brown, who was eventually extradited from Dubai. He has pleaded not guilty to attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
Meanwhile, 6ix9ine is focusing on his own legal issues.
He is expected to be sentenced on December 5, 2025 for violating the terms of his probation related to the 2018 racketeering case. Federal prosecutors want him to spend several months in jail for repeated violations.
There was widespread backlash against those who mocked Kirk’s assassination. Some people have lost their jobs at airlines, schools and hospitals because of social media posts mocking the tragedy.
