Ms. Fury is revisiting her acting skills for a new biopic role.
‘Angry Lady’ to play TV psychic Cleo in new movie
On Tuesday (July 23), the Lifetime network shared a trailer for the upcoming biopic Miss Cleo: Her Rise and Fall , in which the former Death Row Records rapper portrays a tarot card reader Master, who offered TV commercials to viewers of free phone calls in the late 1990s and early 2000s to have their fortunes told.
Miss Cleo is from Los Angeles and speaks with a heavy Jamaican accent. In the film, one of Cleo’s relatives accuses her of allegedly “mocking” her Jamaican heritage. The biopic also exposed Miss Cleo’s deceptive success, noting that she once brought in $24 million in revenue for the network of psychic readers for whom she was employed. However, in the movie, Miss Cleo (born Yuri Dale Harris) doesn’t seem to be bothered by her questionable dishonesty, as it allows her, a single mother, to pay the bills and provide for her children . Miss Cleo’s fall from grace occurred while she was being investigated by the Federal Trade Commission for fraud, a point also highlighted in the One Life movie.
Luckey, whose real name is Robin Allen, has appeared in films such as “Next Friday,” “The Ride” and most recently “Judas and the Black Messiah.”

Miss Cleo and psychic reader network accused of fraud
According to Newsweek, the plan behind the Psychic Readers Network is that they will offer free readings to customers who call a toll-free number, but customers will then be directed to a 900 number that charges $4.99 per minute. The Washington Post noted that the average cost of a call to about 6 million people was $60.
In 2002, the Federal Trade Commission charged Steven Fader and Peter Stotz, owners of Access Resource Services and promoters of Miss Cleo, with deceptive advertising, billing and collection practices. Miss Cleo was not charged.
Newsweek also reported that Steven Feder and Peter Stotts settled the dispute by forgiving $500 million of debt owed by many callers to the network and paying the FDC $5 million. Uncashed checks are also returned to customers.
According to the New York Times, Miss Cleo died of cancer on July 26, 2016.
Lifetime’s “Miss Cleo: Her Rise and Fall,” starring the “Angry Ladies,” will premiere on August 10 at 8 p.m. ET.
