Several hip-hop and R&B artists have reacted to the release of the massive slate of nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards.
The concentration of legacy and emerging artists who have made their mark over the past year and are now nominated illustrates the overall influence both genres have had on the music industry as of late. Legends such as Run-DMC and André 3000 will compete against emerging superstars such as J. Cole, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Doechii and more.
To celebrate the rich and diverse field of Grammy nominees, AllHipHop took a moment to acknowledge the wave of artist feedback across multiple social media platforms.
Andre 3000
André 3000 is one of several artists nominated in multiple categories, including the coveted tge Year Album. In a statement to Variety , the Atlanta rap veteran spoke of his “surprise” that his experimental flute album “New Blue Sun” received such a major nomination.
“I think we were trying to create events to see if we could get into the alternative jazz or ambient category,” André 3000 told Variety. “So this morning when the Album of the Year category came up, I was really, really surprised because I didn’t think a lot of people knew about it. So I’m glad the voting went out that way and people are paying attention, which is more important than anything else. .
Run DMC
Iconic hip-hop group Run-DMC has reacted to their first Grammy nomination in 40 years after their TV documentary Kings From Queen: The Run-DMC was nominated in the Best Musical Film category.

Gloria
After learning she was nominated in three categories, including Best Rap Song, GloRilla expressed her gratitude to her fans, as well as herself.

Chris Brown
Chris Brown also took some time to celebrate after receiving three nominations, highlighting the success of his recent 11:11 album with a post on Instagram.
“3 of these tangz,” Chris Brown wrote in the caption, which featured heart and praying hands emojis.

Rhapsody
Rapsody gushed over the news that her Please Don’t Cry album was nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Best Melodic Rap Performance for “3:AM,” featuring Eryakah Badu Jedi expressed her pride in the album.

Dalit
Although his nomination came through his contributions as an artist and producer on J. Cole’s Might Delete Later album, which was nominated in the Best Rap Album category, West Coast rapper Dalet Celebrating as if it was his own personal recognition.
According to his hilarious Instagram video, in which he noted that he used to turn down major awards like Grammys because he was never recognized as a top “underground” rapper during his career.
“The first Grammy non-rapper and producer Ayo @#naw is uppp,” Daylit wrote in the caption.

Will and Willow Smith
While her mother Jada Pinkett Smith also reacted to the news, Willow and her father Will Smith’s reactions to her two Grammy nominations were particularly poignant, including Nominated for Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocal Performance for her song “Big Feelings.”
In a heartfelt post shared by Will, he congratulated his “bean” for persevering through her “struggles” and “rebuilding” to achieve her dreams — and in turn, he congratulated himself for being her Take pride in your father’s role.

Shabuze
While he’s not necessarily nominated in specific categories for hip-hop or R&B, we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge country music innovator Shaboozey with six nominations in his first Grammy Awards experience. Among his multiple nominations, including a nomination in the Song of the Year category for his anthem “Bar Song (Drunk),” the recognition he received after being named one of the Artist of the Year nominees is truly special to him Meaning Shabuze. In addition to sharing a video of his reaction to being nominated in the category, Shabuze also shared a lengthy message expressing how “grateful” he is for the opportunity to be rewarded for his dedication and hard work.
“Today I woke up to 6 Grammy nominations!!!” he wrote. “This moment has been something I’ve dreamed of ever since I started recording music. Even so, when I finally heard my name called today, nothing prepared me!”
