Amin has kept a low profile over the past few years. He released a relaxing collaborative album with KAYTRANADA in 2023, but fans had to go back to 2021 for a solo album. That’s part of why .mp3s EPs are so exciting. This proves that Amine is back to normal operations. There are four songs scattered throughout this short project, and we’re happy to report that they’re all great. They stand alone, but together they offer a broad view of Amin as a rapper. Fans have already heard two of the songs before the EP’s release: “Passenger Princess” and “Adam.”
“Passenger Princess” is the most traditional hip-hop song on the EP. Amin and Smino sang catchy soul songs while swapping bars. The pair have chemistry, and while their performances are eccentric, they sound diverse enough to stand out. “Adam” is a guitar-based ballad with Amine’s voice transitioning into Brockhampton’s. It works, and proves that he might even be an underrated singer. The new songs “s2wik” and “Wingz” here are equally diverse. The former is one of the strangest songs Amine has released to date, a tiny, glitchy electronic ballad with Autotune. On “Wingz,” he returns to traditional rap with Cardo Got Wings. It’s short, fun, and you’ll love it.
