Amanda Seales is someone who has never shied away from sharing her beliefs. The comedian, actress, dancer and social justice advocate frequently engages in the struggles faced by the black community. She has also been an outspoken critic of prominent Black spaces, accusing them of excluding her and failing to recognize her work. While this earned Sears a loyal fan base, it also caused her backlash. Regardless, she continued to speak her mind.
Sears’ outspokenness makes her the perfect guest on Shannon Sharpe’s Shay Shay Club this week, and as expected, the episode had no shortage of funny moments. For example, in the interview, Sears recalled her first experience with racism. She detailed a disturbing experience in which she was bullied and harassed by a group of non-black peers during a trip to Walt Disney World as a child.

As Sears reflected on being called a “nigger,” she was told she only had this opportunity because she was black, and more, Sharp interjected. Sears is in disbelief. “You never said anything derogatory as a child? Were you a model citizen as a child?” She quickly responded, making it clear that she was here to share her experiences and how they affected her, and certainly not to defend her childhood.
