Attendees at Chicago’s Summer Carnival reportedly sparked a riot after the festival was briefly evacuated due to weather.
Music Festival postponed due to fan riots in “Summer Brawl”
Chicago’s 2024 Summer Smash Festival was briefly evacuated due to weather on Sunday (June 16), but ultimately went on as scheduled after delays. However, during the evacuation, Bridgeview, Illinois police were reportedly responding to a disturbance near Seat Geek Stadium, the venue for the music festival, located at 7000 S. Harlem Avenue. 4,000 people, but seemed to be quelled after about 30 minutes.
Videos of the festival shared on TikTok showed frustrated fans dismantling barricades when asked to leave, while other videos showed trash cans and barricades being thrown at concertgoers.

Chief Keef performs in Chicago for first time in over a decade
Thankfully, fans were able to return to the festival on Sunday to watch Chief Keef’s epic homecoming performance. During Sosa’s first Chicago-area performance in more than a decade, he was finally able to sing all of his hits, including “Faneto,” “Love Sosa” and “Don’t Like.”
Chief Keef last performed in the Chicago area in 2012 at Lollapalooza. From there, Keef was eventually blacklisted from performing in the city, and then-Mayor Rahm Emanuel called Keef an “unacceptable role model” whose music “promoted violence.”
The three-day Summer Smash music festival also includes performances by Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Kodak Black, Lil Yachty, Wacka Flocka Flame, Big Sean and many more.
