A Pennsylvania woman is outraged after Wells Fargo allowed 120 fraud charges totaling more than $7,000 on her account. Getting help from banks to solve this problem is not easy.
In a video with over 200,000 views and over 3,000 comments, TikTok creator @momoftwoboys6363 explains why she has over $7,000 in negative balance in her Wells Fargo account.
She said she received a text message from Wells Fargo at 3:00 a.m. asking if she approved a recent transaction. Except of course @momoftwoboys6363 is sleeping and unable to reply to messages.
Wells Fargo allowed 120 fraudulent Cash App charges
“When I woke up at 7 a.m., I said, ‘No. I didn’t approve that deal,'” she said. She then realized that while she was asleep, the bank allowed 120 transactions totaling $7,173 to be processed on her account.
She said the transactions on the account showed it was fraudulent through Cash App and even revealed the name of the person who stole the money from the transaction. According to the follow-up video, @momoftwoboys6363 called Pennsylvania State Police, Wells Fargo, and Cash App.
Unfortunately, as of the latest follow-up video, two weeks after the incident, @momoftwoboys636 still hasn’t gotten her money back.
“Still no money, still no updates from Wells Fargo. It’s been 10 days and my case is still closed. Yeah, nothing. Bank account is still thousands of dollars negative,” she said.
Wells Fargo and Customer Complaints
In 2016, Wells Fargo lost its Better Business Bureau accreditation due to numerous complaints. The bank was actually ranked as the bank with the most customer complaints, with Citibank and Bank of America in second and third place respectively.
According to Wells Fargo’s help page, if you suspect fraud on your account, you should call the bank immediately. The bank promises to resolve the claim within 10 working days, failing which interim credit will be issued.
It’s hard to say in which cases you will get a refund and in which cases you won’t. There are several factors involved in the investigation.
Audience reaction to Wells Fargo horror story
“I can’t stand Wells Fargo! I switched to credit unions years ago,” one commenter said.
“Fargo Bank is horrible. They don’t protect their customers. Happened to me years ago. I closed and moved the bank. Worst bank in history,” a second person wrote.
“I’m literally getting ready to open a Wells Fargo account. I’ll go somewhere else! This is crazy!” said a third.
“I will never understand why people bank at Wells Fargo or Bank of America anymore. I hear so many horror stories about both banks,” another person wrote.
