Earlier this month, Tyra gave an interview to “The Breakfast Club,” which ultimately sparked a backlash from Charlamagne. At one point during the conversation, he asked the songstress about her identity as a “coloured person” in South Africa. He was immediately shut down. Her publicist made it clear that she would not answer any questions on that particular topic, prompting some viewers to accuse her of denying her Black identity. She later addressed this in a statement and clarified that this was not her intention at all.
Peter Rosenberg was one of the first to call for Charlamagne to step down. He claimed he caused both Tyra and her team “pain”. Additionally, he accused the person of making a list of questions she didn’t want asked during the interview but asking them anyway. He was clearly on to something, and as Charlemagne has now more or less confirmed, that’s exactly what he did.
Charlamagne Towers Discusses Tyra’s Breakfast Club Interview
According to Charlamagne, Tyra’s team previously asked him not to mention Kay Senat, her absence from the Chris Brown tour, recent injuries, comparisons to other artists, her dating life or her racial identity. “I told them, ‘No,'” he revealed. He also claimed that at that point, they would either prepare Tyra for these topics or cancel the interview altogether.
“I’m not a record company fool,” he later added. “I have a job to do, and my job is for the people.” What do you think of Charlamagne Tower admitting that he asked Terra questions on her “don’t ask” list? Are you surprised? Was he wrong to do so? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below and follow HNHH for more updates.
