Timbaland attends Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony
Timbaland was one of the musicians inducted at the 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Gala on Tuesday night (June 11) in New York City. Timbo’s longtime collaborator Missy Elliott became the first female rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall in 2019, helping her creative partner get into the SHoF.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran hitmaker thanked a number of artists during his speech, including Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, as well as the late R&B singer Aaliyah and rapper Magoo. He also credits Missy with her musical success. “I owe my career to Missy Elliott,” Timbaland said.
The Virginia native concluded his speech by thanking the Songwriters Hall for the introduction. “Thank you for giving me a seat – I’ve been waiting for a long time,” Timber said.

SZA honored at Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala
R&B singer SZA was also honored at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala. The 34-year-old artist received the Hal David Starlight Award, an honor given to young songwriters. During the event, SZA performed an acoustic version of her 2022 song “Snooze” from her SOS project.
“I’ve surpassed all of my wildest dreams,” SZA said in her acceptance speech (via People magazine). “I’m so grateful. Thank you for meeting me. I swear, I’d say, ‘Oh, I wrote this, I wrote that. And then [people would] It’s like, “Okay,” especially if you’re a woman, especially if you’re a black woman. So to win this… would mean the world.
