The 9th Wonder seems to have a keen eye for hidden talents, as he believes that given Latto’s skills as a rapper, she has yet to reach her full potential.
Following her jaw-dropping performance of “Sunday Service” at the 2024 BET Awards last week, the “Little Brother” alum took to social media to praise her abilities as a host while musing on how far she can go.
“Dude…the opening sequence of @Latto’s show,” he wrote. “Man Ratto can rap. I wonder what she’s going to sound like when the beat of Biggie’s “Unbelievable” comes on?
When a fan suggested that “a lot of rappers would sound better with a better beat,” the veteran beatmaker responded: “Nope. CAPtain Crunch…what a fascinating response. A lot of better Beats can’t save rappers…you may ignore rappers but it can’t save them…and neither can its presence…if she sounds that good…imagine the latter.
Replying to another who agreed with the original post, the 49-year-old added: “Tone. Presence. Flow…these are the hardest skills to teach…it doesn’t have to be a lyrical miracle…”

The above-mentioned awards ceremony was a star-studded event.
One of the night’s many highlights was an all-star tribute to Usher, kicking off with Childish Gambino’s cover of the R&B icon’s 2001 hit “U Don’t Have To Call.”
Keke Palmer, Summer Walker, Coco Jones, Marsha Ambrosius, Tinashe, Chlöe Bailey, Teyana Taylor and Victoria Monet later joined in on the medley of some of his hits, including “Superstar,” “There Goes My Baby” and “Nice” & Slow,” before Latto closed the event by rapping Ludacris’ “Yeah!”
The 45-year-old watched the packed show from the audience with a huge smile on his face.

The tribute was part of a big night for the Atlanta native, as he also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual gathering. In addition, he also won the trophy for Best Male R&B/Pop Vocal Performance.
