Beef has been an especially important topic in hip-hop over the past few years, and for many, the king of the scene is 50 Cent. His diss tracks are iconic and his social media parodies are undeniably hilarious. He’s always willing to go the extra mile, and today, even by his high standards, he took it up a notch.
In a new ad for DoorDash, 50 pokes fun at his reputation as a troll and stresses that he would never “deliver beef” while millions of people are watching. Naturally, the jokes came.
The rapper pulled an ABC book out of his DoorDash bag and joked that beef is more art than science. This was apparently in reference to Floyd Mayweather’s inability to read, with the reference to boxing being the “sweet science” also added for clarity. Next up was a pack of cheese puffs, a reference to his ongoing feud with Diddy. Next up is a clock, to which 50 says “It’s all about time, I’m always on time”, referring of course to Ja Rule. Finally there’s a comb, again alluding to Diddy, aka Sean Combs.
The jab at the end is a little subtle. He pulled out a bottle of Branson cognac, which he said had been aged for 4 years/50 months, a nod to the time Diddy was jailed in October.
Well done. Check out the ad below.
