As the second most popular religion in the world, Islam is practiced by millions of people around the world, including some of your favorite rappers. While rappers like Craig Mack and Ma$e have put their rap lives behind them over the years to devote themselves to religion, many other rhymers have incorporated their Muslim faith into their skills without giving up game. DJ Khaled, Swizz Beatz and A Tribe Called Quest members Q-Tip and Ali have been outspoken about their faith in the Muslim religion since the beginning of their careers.
Louisiana native Kevin Gates, a former XXL freshman, is showing off his Muslim faith more frequently on social media and making his practices public. After the Paris attacks in the fall of 2015, French Montana, a Muslim rapper from the Bronx, New York, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and urged people not to view Muslims as terrorists. Lil Durk was raised Christian but became a Muslim as an adult. In May 2023, he inspired a fan to convert to Islam.
Recently, in October 2023, Finesse2tymes announced that he will convert to Islam after the release of his next album.
The 2023 XXL freshman responded on social media: “You guys are always making fun and laughing when someone is trying to make their life together, and if you’re struggling and wondering why, it’s because you look down on everyone , and look down on myself.” Strongly opposed to his statement. “You will not be blessed if you are sad. I graduated from the streets. I am no longer the same person as before. I seek more knowledge and wisdom, financial literature, parenting skills, etc.”
Big Daddy Kane, Beanie Sigel, Dave East, PnB Rock and many other rappers are part of Islam. Look how much hip-hop music has ties to the Muslim faith. As-salamu ʿalaykum.
