Tupac Shakur’s family has hired high-profile attorney Alex Spiro and a team of investigators to probe any connection to Diddy and the hip-hop legend’s murder . 2Pac was gunned down in a Las Vegas intersection on September 7, 1996, at the height of the West Coast and East Coast rap rivalry. The Bad Boy Records founder has long been suspected of having a hand in his death, but it has yet to be confirmed.
There was a breakthrough in the case in September 2023, when Keefe D was arrested and charged with homicide. He previously claimed that Diddy was willing to pay $1 million for one of the All Eyez on Me rapper’s hit songs. He will appear in court next March. Meanwhile, Shakur’s family is apparently trying to determine once and for all whether Biggie’s close friend and collaborator Diddy had something to do with it.
According to a detective who testified in the case, Keef D claimed that former Death Row CEO Suge Knight, who was driving the car in which Shakur was shot and killed, told People that Diddy “had a crush on his “Responsible for the murder of a good friend, if not directly, then indirectly.” Months after 2Pac was murdered, Biggie was shot dead in Los Angeles, which was blamed on the ongoing beef on the West Coast side.
Notably, Diddy was never arrested, indicted, or charged with these accusations. Numerous outlets have reported directly to law enforcement and independently confirmed that there is no new information and no investigations pending or ongoing.
In July, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told People magazine that “Sean Combs was never considered a suspect in the Tupac Shakur homicide investigation.” Investigators also told TMZ , “Dee Dee was never a suspect in the 2Pac murder investigation and remains today. In other words…it’s clear that the police didn’t believe the story Keefe D was pushing about Puff and didn’t find his story credible. .
Diddy told AllHipHop in 2008, “This story is ridiculous and completely false. Neither Biggie nor I had any knowledge of any of the attacks before, during or after. There is no suggestion that Biggie or myself were involved.” The statement is a complete lie.
Keefe D’s own attorneys have argued in his current case that he lied about his involvement in the shooting simply for leverage. Additionally, his story has changed several times.
The latest developments have further increased the number of Diddy’s cases. The embattled tycoon was arrested at a Manhattan hotel on September 16 on three RICO charges: racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution. He pleads not guilty. His legal team is making a third attempt at bail and filing a notice of appeal.
