21 Lil Harold and Rob49 create aggressive, steady hip-hop music. They discuss tough topics and do so in ominous, threatening tones. They compliment each other very well, and “Word on the Street” is perfect proof of that. 21 Lil Harold’s new single features a simple yet hypnotic drum pattern. The rappers drop the kind of flex you’d expect, and the whole thing is done in two and a half minutes. No one breaks the mold here, and the song is all the better for it.
Harold was the first to stand. He’s responsible for the chorus and the first verse, which contains some of the meanest bars. “Put away your jewelry (ahem) and take your life (life),” he spat. “My young black man shot you, you didn’t move the right way (right). I rode through town day and night. Opponents dared not go out and ran for their lives (F*ck)”. 21 Lil Harold’s speech was sharp, to the point, and sounded great. So does Rob49’s cameo. Rob managed to put a Lil Wayne reference and a Jeff Hardy reference into his 16, and then passed it back to the lead artist. Press play and they’ll replay.
