The 2024 XXL freshman class season is coming to an end, which means the codes are finally here. The first lyrical performance of the year kicked off with BigXthaPlug, BossMan Dlow and Maiya The Don. As each rapper spits resonant bars over gritty trap beats provided by producer Southside, it’s clear why these three are in the freshman class.
Dallas native BigXthaPlug led the charge, using his booming baritone to remind the haters that he was already a top five player in his city. “Look, I’m literally the biggest, they call me Big complained.
“Mr. Beat the Road” BossMan Dlow adds some big bends next, bringing his signature dizzy flow to the reborn code. Florida Rhythm also hit back at the naysayers. “I’m driving a fucking G-Wagon in traffic like a Honda/You hate ’em ’cause they’re nothing/Fuck ’em, I’m rich k/You’re looking for me, I’m cooking,” He said.
Driving the momentum was Maiya The Don, who concluded her remarks with a few messages to critics who felt she was being left out. “B**ches try to leave me out, that ain’t no big deal, ha/This is the fifth cypher I’ve smoked this year and I still don’t pass the straight, ha/Ever since I’ve been on the scene, I’ve put all these bastards My mouth is gagged,” Maiya spat.
With another impressive code coming this week, it’s clear that the 2024 freshman class really isn’t like us. Watch these three Class of 2024 students test their bars in the video below.
