Sunday, March 10th: KMFDM at Brooklyn Bowl in Philadelphia

It’s a treat for truth or dare weirdos, but if you haven’t checked out German legends KMFDM’s high-energy industrial metal since their early work on Millennials, be aware that they never stop making music, and Their music library is huge. Tonight’s show at the Brooklyn Bowl will support their latest effort Let Go, commemorate the 40th anniversary of frontman Sasha Konietzko’s founding of the band in Berlin, and will run through their deep 23-album catalog from the ’80s to the present day Offering a tour worthy of its name. // 8pm, $47.50, 21+ – John Waiters

Monday, March 11: Cherry Glazerr from The Foundry

For their fourth album, I Don’t Want You Anymore, Los Angeles’ Cherry Glazerr draws on inspiration ranging from The Kinks to Pink Pantheress, frontman Clem Creevy recently shared during a guest DJ set at the Indie Rock Hit Parade Got this. The band’s subsequent winter tour in support of the record brought them to The Foundry. Pittsburgh’s former Aviators opener. // 8 p.m., $38, AA – JV

Monday, March 11: Thievery Corporation at Brooklyn Bowl in Philadelphia

For 25 years, DC electronic music company Thievery Corporation has been fusing house, trip-hop and other rhythm-driven jams with globally conscious samples and soundscapes. The band is on a North American tour this March, with no new album to promote and no major anniversary to promote – perhaps celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2004 remix The Outernational Sound? But it’s certainly a profound cut – it’s certainly just a rich set of sounds and resonant bliss. Sun City opens. // 8pm, $57 and up (verified resale), 21+ – JV

Thursday 14 March: Liz Longley at Arden Gild Hall

Nashville native Liz Longley will be at Arden Gild Hall to share music from her latest project EP When You’ve Got Trouble, her first collection of new songs since 2020’s Funeral for My Past. Langley’s earthy, unmistakable voice chants positive lyrics during life’s toughest moments, serving as a guiding light forward, helping people escape past struggles. Arrive early to enjoy a performance by her Philadelphia-area friend Brittany Ann Tranbaugh. // 8 p.m., $24.93, AA – Isabella Patrizio

Thursday 14 March: Glen Hansard performs at The Stone Pony

During Glen Hansard’s brief stop in New Jersey and New York, he will stop by the iconic Stone Pony to play some tracks from the LP All That Was East Is West Of Me Now. Following the release of This Wild Willing, Hansard added this new addition to his 17-year catalogue, and spent a period focusing solely on collaborations with the great Eddie Vedder and Cat Power . Glenn refocused his attention on his solo work, and he was able to create a series of heartfelt, powerful rock songs using an array of instruments that were heavy throughout, save for tender moments with strings and cello. // 7pm, $100 and up (verified resale), 21+ – IP

Thursday 14th March: Sam Roberts Band performs at Underground Arts

Singer-songwriter Sam Roberts and his four instrumentalists channel the spirit of ’80s melodic rock with a touch of ’90s Britpop through their infectious lyricism and stage presence. Their latest album, The Adventures of Ben Blanc , is hitting the road after being released last fall. This is the band’s first full tour since 2018, after previous tour dates were canceled due to the pandemic. Their tour kicks off in their hometown of Montreal on February 2nd and will head to Underground Arts this Thursday. // 8 p.m., $25, 21+

Thursday, March 14: Sug Daniels and Sam Rise at World Cafe Live

World Cafe Live No strangers to World Cafe Live, two of our favorite local Black Opry members, Sug Daniels and Sam Rise, opened for house pop indie folk band Cloudbelly in the lounge. Sug will have a full band with her and we imagine Sam will too, so it’s certainly not to be missed. // 8:30 p.m., $16, 21+ – Paige Walter

Friday, March 15: Parx Casino Common

This Friday, you can meet rapper, actor and activist Common at the Parx Casino in the north of town. Among his prolific discography, 2021’s A Beautiful Revolution Pt. 1 & 2 stands out for its powerful messaging and impressive roster of featured artists, including Stevie Wonder ), Lenny Kravitz, Black Thought, Brittany Howard, etc. Most recently, Common starred in the play “By the River and Madness.” We are blessed that this talented multi-talented man traded Broadway for the open road. // 8pm, $49+, 21+ – PW

Friday, March 15: Brandy Clark at Sherman Theater

Acclaimed country songwriter Brandi Clark, who has written for the likes of Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert, will perform her own song this Friday night at the Sherman Theater. Her latest 2023 self-titled album features vocals from Derek Truck, Lucius and another country Brandi: Brandi Carlile. Collaborator and country gentleman Hayes Carll kicks off this bill for lovers of American storytelling. // 8 p.m., $25+, AA – PW

Friday 15 March: Pissed Jeans at Underground Art

Allentown rock band Pissed Jeans describe their punk style as “loud, heavy, and noisy.” The band’s origins began in Allentown in the early 2000s, where the band members met in high school. Now based in Philadelphia, they have released six explosive, thrilling punk records. In a review for XPN , Sean Fennell writes that their just-released new record, Semi-Divorced , showcases the band’s “as adept as ever” with its “jarring moments of dissonance and their sneaky melodic threads” There is more contrast.” Although the four pieces incorporate a slightly more pop-oriented sonic direction, they never sacrifice the power of the riffs that fans know and love. // 8:30 p.m., $20, 21+ – Dylan Itkin

Saturday 16th March: Beyond The Bars presented at World Cafe Live

Founded in 2015, Beyond the Bars is a non-profit organization that provides music education to incarcerated people in Philadelphia. Since then, it has grown into a larger program that works with various communities, paying special attention to the talents and skills of students, and working to interrupt the city’s cycle of violence through creative opportunities and artistic expression. Several local musicians, including rapper Reef the Lost Cauze and members of punk band Soul Glo, have served as mentors to young students. Recently, the organization has hosted jam sessions, workshops at elementary schools and a showcase at Ortlieb’s. Last December, students from the organization recorded a studio session at WXPN. You can catch them showcasing their musical talents this Saturday at World Cafe Live. // 8pm, free time, AA – DI

Saturday, March 16: Joyce Manor at Phantom Power

Joyce Manor’s last record was 2022’s 40 Oz. On Freedom, only one song is longer than 2 minutes. This Californian band is minimal, yet their powerful punk songs are packed with catchy pop melodies and undying energy. They were influenced by a wide range of artists: Television, Weezer, the Smiths, and perhaps most importantly, Blink-182. The band’s sound draws inspiration from emo, new wave and their hometown’s punk history to create something entirely new. At the Phantom Power show in Millersville, Marquette, Miss. emerging rock band Liquid Mike will open for the show. // 7 p.m., $25, AA – DI
